Colour was born on the same day as the sun and through the centuries it faithfully kept us in good spirits and healthy constitutions. Colour has the irresistible charm to make us smile and to feel optimistic, it nudges our inner child to wake up and play, it makes us feel good.

From the scientific point of view, British physician Isaac Newton was bombarded by an apple while he was walking under a tree and inspiration struck him to form the law of gravity. But his curiosity was insatiable and he went on capturing a beam of light through a crystal prism thus discovering the seven colours of the spectrum. Light refracts through a crystal prism and comes out in seven different wavelengths, one for each of the seven colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.

Newton made it clear to the world that each colour vibrates in its own unique frequency. What the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Ayurvedic Indians knew all along, is that every cell of our body also vibrates in its unique frequency and, if colour was added to a depleted cell of the same frequency, the energy of that cell would be restored like a colour battery that needs electricity to be recharged!

When a specific colour reaches us, the corresponding energy centre is stimulated and hormones start flowing in the bloodstream ordering our system to act accordingly. Think of yourself sitting by the vast blue sea and feeling this serenity and bliss; the sea’s blue stimulates the hormone oxitoxin, which has a calming and relaxing effect on the system. If you stay long enough at the beach, the blue colours will change to dramatic oranges and reds at sunset. A different hormone, adrenalin, is stimulated by those colours and pumped into your system, so from your dazed out state you start feeling heroic, passionate, ready for action and off you go, determined to conquer the best restaurant available!

Colours stimulate hormones which are connected to feelings and sensations; here is some useful information that will make you all the wiser first thing in the morning when you choose your clothes to mach your intentions for the day:
